Second of our trophy race days.
Results
5 boats including 2 single-handers made it out for the second trophy race of the season in fine sunshine and a reasonably steady force 3. Having decided to run a Seafronts race, the course was set to head west along Southsea beach through the submarine barrier inner passage, back through the outer passage before heading east across Hayling Bay to Westpole where the fleet were to head back to the Fairway before turning for the finish.
With the start delayed by the appearance of a large dredger coming in on the high tide, 3 of the boats needed to go back over the line to start. Toby and Matt on the Tiger and Brian and Jenny on the Hurricane 5.9 quickly established a convincing lead which they easily maintained. The southerly winds meant that the fleet enjoyed long reaches up and down the beach either slightly up or down wind. The 3 slower boats were never far apart and after an hour and half all crossed the line within 2 minutes of each other.
Start time was 11:45.
