The Island Cup involves a circumnavigation of Hayling, the direction depending on the wind and tide.
The race is divided into 2 parts by the Bridge, where the boats have to be transferred across the road. This provides the opportunity for a quick drink at the Ship Inn, or occasionally at Langstone SC if their bar is open.
Logistically this is a complicated race since it needs 2 safety boats, timekeepers in more than one place, people to help with ferrying launching trolleys to/from the bridge and others to help with getting boats across the road, but the general consensus is that it is one of the best races that we run.
